Severe RGM infections can result in “painful nodules that develop into persistent, discharging abscesses,” according to a CDC report. Surgery may be required for treatment.

A medical expert at the CDC, who reported on some of the Dominican Republic cases, indicated that although it was unknown how the patients were infected, “any breach in sterile equipment” can cause bacteria to enter the patient’s wound.

Health authorities caution that medical tourists should understand that other countries do not hold doctors to the same high safety standards that you can expect in the United States.

Tess Holliday, a size-22 model, has made a name for herself with the #effyourbeautystandards campaign, but recently it seems that she may have had a change of heart when it comes to her own appearance. She recently posted photos on Instagram of meeting with a plastic surgeon. Her caption read:

You wouldn’t expect to find an A-list celebrity talking about plastic surgery on a survival show, but that’s exactly what happened when Friends star Courtney Cox made a guest appearance on Running Wild with Bear Grylls.

On the episode, while the Hollywood actress trekked through remote parts of Ireland with the host, Bear asked her if she felt pressure to took a certain way in Hollywood.
